Government unions play a disproportionately powerful role in our state’s finances. It is important to resist a mindset that treats state and local government as a jobs program, rather than as a service to Connecticut’s residents. Indeed, much of Connecticut’s high cost of government stems directly from the outsized political influence of its government unions, and their leaders’ resistance to efficiencies that would reduce the cost of state government.
This is why Yankee Institute created Labor & Management Strategies, to provide leaders in our state and municipalities with a comprehensive training program on the collective bargaining process, as well as other negotiating strategies and tactics.
