As featured in this local Fox News clip, Yankee Institute and Connecticut Voices for Children united in opposition to HB 6929: An Act Concerning the Film and Digital Media Production Tax Credits with a joint statement.
The issue? The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development reports that $1.5 billion has been issued to the film and movie industry through these tax credits since 2007. This is equivalent to spending tens of millions of taxpayer dollars every year that our constituents simply cannot afford.
Our organizations stand together on behalf of Connecticut children and families that this is a misallocation of precious resources, and we support the repeal of this tax credit in its entirety. Find our full press release here.
