“Yankee Institute appreciates Gov. Lamont creating a state-focused task force to determine how best to reopen Connecticut businesses. As the governor constitutes this panel, it is imperative that he include representatives of a range of small businesses. Small and family businesses have been most directly and catastrophically affected by this shutdown, and their insights and concerns ought to have a voice on this panel. Our state has many knowledgeable people and business associations who understand small business needs, including the Connecticut Restaurant Association and the Connecticut Retail Merchants Association. Owners or representatives of hair and nail salons and gymnasiums should also be included. Reopening Connecticut’s economy requires input from all affected sectors; it is only fair to make decisions about how to reopen those businesses with input from those with direct working knowledge of how the affected industries operate. Although government officials and big businesses certainly play an important role in this effort – and we thank them — those most harmed during this public health crisis likewise deserve to have a seat at the table.”

President Donald Trump didn’t tell Connecticut to shut its restaurants, churches, schools and theaters in response to the coronavirus crisis. That decision was made by Gov. Ned Lamont, working cooperatively with leaders in business, government and education.

The entire state of ct cannot be treated like Hartford, Bridgeport and Fairfield county. There are towns that have minimal if any cases. I personally he a sole proprietorship which doesn’t fall into any category for assistance. I also haven’t had any business since March 19th. I also haven’t received my stimulus check yet because I don’t have direct deposit. This is ridiculous. People know who should stay in quarantine. This state needs to get back to work
