Consistent with Yankee’s conviction that a healthy state depends on an engaged, informed citizenry, Yankee Institute is honoring two outstanding citizen activists as part of our 30th anniversary celebration! The co-winners of the

Citizen Activist Award – For leaders whose tenacity and devotion to principle have shaped public opinion and effected change in significant and positive ways

are

Gwen Samuel, founder of Connecticut Parents’ Union, in recognition of her work to reform our school system so that all Connecticut children receive a quality education; and

Cathy Ludlum, for her tireless advocacy on behalf of workers’ rights.
